Marilyn Monroes Funeral moments

Join me for a moment in history, Marilyn Monroes funeral.

Marilyn Monroe is an icon, and I am obsessed with her. Some of the few reasons why I am obsessed with her is because of her "look", she was a home girl (LA born and raised) and her life story was interesting. Today, I will be showing you the final moments before and during her funeral.

Marilyn Monroe was found dead on August 5, 1962 in her Mexican styled Brentwood home from an barbiturate overdose.

Address: 12305 5th Helena Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90049

(A glimpse inside the home, gate was already opened)

Her funeral was held on August 8, 1962 at the Westwood Pierce Brothers Cemetery.

Joe DiMaggio (her second ex-husband out of three) arranged her funeral, it was said they were re-kindling their romance upon her death. I found an older article that said she was buried here because it was out of the way and discreet, I think one of the main reasons is because there are two people buried here who were significant in her life.

Marilyn Monroes birth name was Norma Jean Baker, and she was put through the foster care system  through out her childhood due to her mother, Gladys Pearl Baker, having mental disturbances.

Gladys Baker (left) and Grace Goddard (Right)

Grace Goddard, was bestfriends with Marilyn Monroes mother. When she saw that Gladys was unable to take care of Monroe, Grace became a guardian of Monroe but often sent her to family members homes to reside. It's reported that she is part of the reason Monroe became a movie star and witnesses a bit of it before her death.

Young Marilyn and Ana Lower

Ana E. Lower was Grace Goddards aunt and helped raised Marilyn aswell. Marilyn said Ana was one of the first people she's ever loved.

It's also cool to know that more than likely, Marilyn Monroe has stood around here looking at these markers and was here for the funeral.

Her funeral was held in this chapel

After her burial (CRAZY):

A man by the name of, Richard Poncher, purchased the slot above Marilyn Monroe crypt. He told his wife Elsie that she must have him buried face down or else he will come back to haunt her. So yes, Mr. Poncher is buried face down to be literally on top of Marilyn Monroe for eternity . He passed away in 1986. Well, after his death, his wife, elsie, put his crypt up for auction to finish making payments on her Beverly Hills mansion. She ended up canceling it (whew!). Elsie passed away and is buried next to Mr. Poncher, making her buried on top of Hugh Hefner

His crypt looks like its been tampered with

Hugh Hefner purchased a crypt next to in 1992 for $75,000. If you didn't know, she was the cover on the very first Playboy magazine in 1953. Hefner never met her, but is now buried next to her.
